Annie
Butler approached me in late 2003 to build a home on her land in
southern Stanford. Annie owned much of the large mountain in Stanford
and also a stretch of the southern shoreline. The topography and
Annie's request for lots of glass to take in the sweeping views
helped to form the design of the home.
The
home is situated on a gentle saddleback on the lower half of the
mountain. The plot had no neighbors to compete with the views and
the home was seated high above most of the surrounding builds.
The
rooms in the home are situated off of a central spine, the hallway,
that runs the entire length of the home. The master suite with fireplace
and spa are located at the back of the residence away from entertainment
areas to provide maximum privacy.
The
main living area has large windows on all 4 sides to bring in the
natural beauty of the surrounding area. From this vantage point,
one can look out over the ocean and peer down onto the pool and
patio located below.
